Jean-Claude Maurel MD MHB - President and Chief Executive Officer
Jean-Claude Maurel has worked for more than 20 years in the research, development and commercialisation of pharmaceutical products. After several years as a practising clinician, in 1985 he created Natura Medica, a pharmaceutical company specialised in the commercialisation of drugs based on plant extracts. In 1990, Natura Medica was acquired by Ipsen Beaufour, after which he embarked upon 12 years of research and development into the technology which culminated in the discovery of the Aonys technology. Dr Maurel is the principal author of 18 international patents covering the technology and its applications in several therapeutic areas. In 2003 Medesis Pharma was created to develop and commercialise the Aonys technology.
Peter Jackson PhD - Chief Operating Officer
Peter Jackson spent 10 years in various managerial roles within pharmaceutical research and development followed by 8 years in sales and marketing in the life sciences industry. A skilled marketing and business development professional, Peter Jackson is responsible for all business development and commercial activities for Medesis Pharma.
Patrick Maurel PhD - Chief Scientific Officer
Patrick Maurel has spent over 40 years in academic research both in France and the USA.  His last post was a first class research director at Inserm and head of the Inserm U632 research unit.  His main interest is in the field of hepatology  and stem cell research.  Patrick Maurel has co-authored more than 180 international publications and has been involved in many research contracts with French, European, American and Japanese drug companies involving drug safety, anitviral and drug metabolism screening of a wide range of drug candidates.  Patrick Maurel is currently or has served on the editorial board of international scientific journals and is a fellow of several learned societies related to drug industries, drug metabolism, virology and hepatology.
